User error = dry fire. Up-Dated.

Post by Waif »

Arrrgh. Poor Axiom.
Yes I read the manual.
Yes I practiced decocking.
Yes I basically dry fired my Axiom with one hook attached.
(Don't ask how, it still hurts, more importantly don't follow my example.)
Did not take long either
All looked fine with a cursory inspection but tomorrow will be a thorough exam.
Them s5's bumpers and dacron may have saved my bacon.
Pay attention Waif!

....I think there is a club on this forum that you are now an official member of!

....Most important is that you are OK and laugh (sought of) about it!

I've heard of people being careless enough to dry-fire an Excalibur, and I've only done it a few times.
Welcome to the club, hope the bow is not damaged.

Can't say that I've dryfired with a cocking hook still attached  but I can say that I shot my Vortex with a dog whistle over the string and the cord around my neck!
Glad to see that you're still in one piece!

Been there, done that, and got a shirt! Check the limbs with the cotton balls, if no snags, they are probably fine! Still take a real close look for lines, etc. in good, bright light. I think you'll be ok! That is one heck of an awful sound though, right?

All seems well. Ran cotton glove around at truck before leaving woods and no snags. Just need to be sure a handle did not hit the rail or some thing and double check limbs and tips. Brace height, screws ect..
A couple tingly fingers still.Boot took a good hit on the side. Bruised ego.

Never make the same mistake twice. Better yet learn from the mistakes of others.Be sure both hooks are engaged because with only one hooked,well.....
I have looked at the rail and considered what an arrow ,(hey I didn't call it a bolt this time) would do. Ewwww. Pretty well committed by the time you think to stop.
