ok to reuse deer shot arrows?

Post by bobcattrapper »

Just was wondering if its ok to reuse the arrows you shot a deer with.Like clean pass throughs?I know the blades need to be changed out and stuff but just wondered if the arrows might have hair line cracks or something you can't see.And on the boltcutters just change out the insert blades? The rest are good? I know if they hit a rock or something in ground might not be too good but just talking bout pass through lung shot deer mostly and you find the arrow intact on the ground..Thanks!

Check it over - replace anything that needs replacing.

If it's carbon and it's not split/cracked etc, shoot it again.

If it's aluminum and it isn't bent, shoot it again.

Ditto the broadhead. Replace a blade or re-sharpen the blade(s) as necessary. If mechanical check for functionality and fire away "again".

With a good combination (bolt/broadhead) running upwards of 25-30 bucks now a days (by the time you get all the costs in), you would "hope" most could be re-used

I used the same Big John zombie slayer arrow to harvest these 3 fine critters this year. So you can use them over & over again provided you don't lose the arrow ----->.... LOL
