Finally got some antlers!

Post by hunt2sleep »

I killed a button buck with a bow 10 years ago but that was the extent of my archery success with bucks until this morning! I saw him walking in at about 7:35 this morning. At first he was behind some brush and I didn't see his antlers. I didn't want to shoot a doe so I got my bow ready hoping there might be a buck following her. When he stepped into my clearing at about 30 yards I realized he was a buck and got ready for the shot. He was quartering toward me sharply so I waited as he slowly took a few steps forward. When he was just past my 25 yard marker he turned nearly broadside and I shot him. The arrow (18" BEE with a Slick Trick Mag 100) hit him in the shoulder and dropped him on the spot.
