new contacts, can't see in my scope !!!!

Post by gendoc »

for now, until I get used to them.....I can get a perfect crosshair but blurred
site picture and vise-versa if focus adjusted to perfect picture.

old age and blindness is catch'n up

so i'm think'n to start play'n with a spare burris fastfire II I have.

my shots are at the most, 15-20 yrds.
mostly under 12-10 !!
so single POA is really all that's needed.

has anyone here got any experience with the burris FF-II on there excals ?

I have several of there products on hunting handguns and have never
had a problem and they hold-set very well.

i guess i mite just raise or lower the dot if needed.

my 3X-proview just don't like my new lenses !!!

I have played with a Tasco Optima 2000 red dot sight. It's tiny, light weight, and works great. These weight about the same as the open sights, and auto adjust for light conditions. I like it. Try your Fastfire, I bet you will like it as well. I also made a little weaver base to mount the red dot to rather than the big tall Excal mount. It get me more cheek weld and weighs much less. :D PS John, this old age ain't for sissy's!
I got a pair of glasses a couple of weeks ago..... I get around better with a "white cane" than those suckers

Yep - eyesight and age.

I can't see crap either with my contacts or my glasses on, through a conventional scope unless I wear my contacts with my reading glasses :D

As suggested, at least for the crossbow I moved to a red dot scope a good few years back and have never regretted the decision.

I shoot with both eyes open while wearing my glasses without any distortion or trying to focus on a crosshair 4 or 5 inches from my eye.

The red dot (whether you use a single dot, triple dot or a reticle) "appears" to be pretty far down range and your (corrected) long vision focuses perfectly.

I use a "starburst" reticle that does give me three distinct distances (based on zero and speed of the arrow).

I sight all my scopes in with wearing contacts..moving the back adjustment ring still everything is perfectly clear. This includes what I am looking at in the woods as well as the crosshairs. If I wear my bifocal eyeglasses,,its all a blur. When wearing the contacts,,in wind,,they dry out in the eyes and have to carry a tiny bottle of eye drops to keep the contacts moist. Its a pain,,as its been windy almost every day now for past 3 weeks and screwie hunting where I am at. You just have to make due with what works best for you and how improvising works best too.

I've worn extended wear disposable contacts for close to 30 years now.
Put 'em in for a month (or more) and forget 'em.
As I get older I have to use reading glasses for up-close work (or I could take the contacts out, but that's not a good option IMO). With scopes, binoculars, etc. I have no problems at all, but with open sights it's a different story.
