Never good to hear but part of that unwritten contract.
House full of dogs here and lost without some around.
Never a way to compare one with another equally.
We are fortunate when we meet those that click with us passin through though it is a type of pain when they head out without us..

Very sad to hear about your loss. Our German Shepard border collie mix made it to 16, it was tough to lose her. Really hit hard for the few weeks after to come home and not have her waiting and wagging her tail.

Awww John, I'm truly so sorry to hear of your loss. My deepest condolences. It's hard for me even to read this as it chokes me up. I sit here looking at my beautiful ten and a half year old yellow lab Chrissy and can't imagine what I'll do without her, my baby. I'm very sorry my friend, be strong and feel comforted by the wonderful life you and your family gave that gorgeous pup. :|

Sorry to hear that buddy Keg, I have a special spot in my heart for Shepherds because I have been involved in Schutzhund (protection dog sport) for 35 years as a helper (the nuts guy in the padded suit) and just love the working dog breed. RIP Dakota.

Thanks everyone. In the time I've been on the forum, some of you have also lost beloved furry friends, and it always stabbed me in the heart to read those things because I know how attached we become to our pets. I sincerely appreciate the kind words and thoughts.

The love of a dog for its owner is almost unequaled: maybe only matched in reverse. Reminds me of the highest love : 1 John 4:19.

Sounds like a tough deal. Lost my 15 yr old leopard cur a few months ago and I was complete wreck for about 3 days.

I am really sorry for your loss. I lost my german shepherd "BEAR" 31/2 years ago now and miss him as much now even tho 3+ years have gone by. when you are board and on the computer do a search for 'Rainbow Bridge". I found a ton of reading that gave me some comfort in my time of grief that really helped me out. when I done that search 3 years ago I found a site that did personalized pet memorials. I had a memorial done with his picture and now hangs on my wall and I see it every day. everyone grieves different and this was my way of helping me deal with it. Bear and I will never be apart again. the rainbow bridge poem is a MUST READ for pet lovers that are grieving! take care

Yep, read it. When I had to put down my 4 yr. old beagle, my Vet sent me a Rainbow Bridge sympathy card. It really helped. I'll see Tanner again, someday.
