My 2014 season

Post by OneShot »

Hi gang !
As some of you may know I hunt in Port Carling area for deer bear and moose.
2013 season was great with my near sweep of the Muskoka Big Deer Contest. This year after sitting just one night with my NEW Matrix 405, before the controlled hunt ,a buck was chasing does around my stand ; but never presented a broadside shot , let alone stand still long enough to take a solid aim . Low and behold it made me sit in my stand a lot longer after legal shooting time that night.

As luck would have my battery operated alarm clock went dead sometime through the night , slept in late .
Arriving to my same stand ,seeing the same buck in action at 7:55 am.
He saw me and but never bolted ,maybe thinking I was harmless.

Wrong ! Climbed up my stand - got comfortable ; and it seemed that it forgot about me and began chasing does again.

He stopped almost directly under my stand - presented a fantastic shot - and the rest is history !

This ten pointer weighed in at 210 lbs and claimed me first prize for the second year in a row !

Next year maybe can complete the hat trick !

Forgot to mention an odd occurrence _ bears stole my deer hide one night ! F[ound about two miles down a trail half eaten .
Hung it up higher in the tree along with the head, but they took it again and could not locate it this time ; buggers !

oneshot......
Leave the concrete jungle behind and just go hunting !

Congrats fer sure.... it's wild have some bucks act so differently than others. I guess they are like dogs in some respects like personality wise? Even with the does..Maybe I'm sounding out there but I have picked up differences.. Then again maybe I've been out in the sun to long.................
