Post by Mo wannabe »

We have several moultries cameras on our hunting ground. Some of the cards won't read in my camera and some will ? How do u know which format the cameras use? I would like to be able to read all cards off of one camera. Somebody help me here this newfangled crap is about to blow what little mind I have left .....

I believe it's best to use a NEW card and mark the card for each manufacture of camera?

Try inserting the cards and formatting them in the cameras. They should work once formatted.

Also make sure your not putting a large capacity card in an older camera. For example my older Bushnell is only good up to a 2G card but with my newer Spypoints I can use my 8G cards.

My (older) Bushnell game cam had to be formatted before use. It created a folder for the pics named DCIM and in that folder a sub-folder named 100EK113. My Canon digital cameras automatically format a new card and create a folder named DCIM with a sub-folder named 101Canon. If I use the same card (and I do) in both devices I have two folders inside the DCIM folder that contain pictures if I've used the card in both.
My buddy has a newer Bushnell game cam and when I used one of my cards (with both folders on it) it put the game cam pics in the 101 Canon folder?

Are all of the cards the same storage size? It may be that your camera can't handle a certain size memory card, but your trail camera can.

It could also be the brand of card you're using. I've tried several different brands of cards, but I've had some crap out on me after a few weeks. Now, I only use San Disc Ultra cards.

Some camera's and trail cams are not compatible with SDHC cards, particularly older ones. You need to use an SD card. The newer camera's and trail cams use SDHC cards. These are two different formats which is why some won't work. You can use an SD card in a SDHC camera and cam but not the other way around. If your going to buy some new cams, it should tell you on the pkg what kind (SD or SDHC) card you need. My guess is that anything new will be SDHC. I think that cards over 2 gig will be SDHC.
I hope this helps you out a little.

This could be the problem ... The trail camera that I can't read the card on is a new moultrie model my brother bought
