Quiver options, advice?

Post by New guy »

I have been around rifles lots
Just bought my 1st crossbow, a matrix 355

The 355 came with a decent package, including a quiver and mounting bracket

Well in the field the quiver just seems in the way and awkward
Once in a stand and the quiver detached the bracket was in the way too

Is there any other options?
Anybody try the Excalibur quiver on the left hip hanging from the waist belt on a backpack?

Munch Mount- use the search box above. You will see plenty of photos.
There are other options, but this is one I am seriously considering for my micro's. Hope this helps.

Excalibur makes a quick detach mount that leaves nothing but a small piece under the rail. Download the 2015 catalog and you can see it there. You could also get a Munch mount to mount it on top of the bow.

Hip quiver is a great option, or contact Munch, he can be found here. He makes top mount brackets that are very nice.

Excalibur quick detachable quiver bracket . You can remove the quiver from bracket or the whole bracket will come off the rail by way of a dovetail with a threaded post like the one on your quiver .

I too can't handle any thing hanging on my crossbow and before in my compound days, I made a quiver carrier out of paracord and attached the quick release to it.. Which has a quick release buckle and either carry it on my back pack or over my shoulder, and once in my stand or blind have it hanging close by..And if I'm still hunting I can attach it to my hip. They sell hip quivers out there, But I prefer to make my own. Like with slings and things. good luck to ya.. and keep that bow light and ready.........

Yes I do have the Excalibur quick detach quiver
Comes off quick and easy

The mount is bolted to the bow frame, no quick detachment in the field

I was wondering if anyone adapted the 1/4 inch bolt on the quiver to a mount somehow on a hip quiver, or belt on a fanny pad?

The Excalibur quiver looks solid enough to use off the bow
Still bow season here for deer

You know if a piece of gear will fail it will be in the field
And not in the basement or the range

Thanks

I 've used the stock Excal quiver tied with an old boot lace to my fanny pack for a few years. I know it's redneck / getto but it works fairly well. Danny Miller also makes overbow quiver mounts that let you carry bow with a sling more comfortably and shoot off rest much easier. And you would get to talk to Danny. Win- Win

I've never liked bow quivers; so I just drilled a couple holes in one. attached a small loop of paracord and slip a nylon belt through it to wear around my waist or hang on a peg in my tree stand. Works great and if I will be in very brushy cover I might put a strip of camo. tape or parcord over the arrows in the holder to keep them snug and safe.

I've always had good luck with my hip quiver. I did try one of Danny Miller's top mount quivers, but found I preferred not having the weight on the bow.
(same story for vert bows, I would rather have the weight on my hip. )

I like the hip quivers also,so i bought an Allen hip quiver but with the bottom being soft i was a fraid of fallin on it and broadheads coming thru,so i took my excal quiver that was on Axiom ,left it in one piece and slid the hood rightinto the bottom of the hip quiver and the took tiny bolts and screws and attached the two together .

Really more " tight wad" than redneck. Heck I take fanny pack and quiver off in stand anyway.
