Thanks Wabi!. . . i needed that

Two old farts were sitting on a park bench feeding the pigeons. One is telling the other about his new hearing aid, "It's the best money can buy, there is no better hearing aid on the market."

His buddy says, "Really? What kind is it?"

The old guy looks at his watch and says, ol...bout a quarter til three.

BTW - I just got my new hearing aids last week.
I can actually relate to that joke.

I have been here almost 4 years and don't really post very much but do enjoy this site. There are a lot of good people here but like everywhere else the ones we remember are the ones that create issues. You can have 500 people talking here and it only takes one or two to start something and that becomes the focus of everyone. Human nature. I am on two other Forums and they both have the same issues there is always a few that know it all or are just plain miserable with their lives and want to pass the misery on to others. I usually find that there are groups of 4-5 people that feed each others fire ..egging the others on so they feel like they have support and then the posting gets out of control and people especially new people are afraid to post and get flamed. Good moderators who don't play favorites are key to stopping these potential problems in the bud. Everyone I have talked with here has been helpful and kind. If I ever get out of line someone please slap me upside the head and bring me to my senses...LOL. Take care.

X-3 Wabi I sure needed that too.I really like this forum and 99.9 percent of the people here are great..I hope we all can just get back to getting back, hunting crossbows and all might not agree....... But I also like a little humor now and then even if some might feel its off topic......

I think RJ is right - I remember when I first joined the forum in 2004 I would log on and need to read every thread because it was 99% crossbow hunting and/or hunting related .... Its sad that I now find my eyes scanning many threads before finding something I would be interested in.

I have posted many OT's over the years but they are things that I believe the general forum would be interested in.

I have a rule at work when I am frustrated and I need to respond - I type my message and/or reply then I walk away for a cool down period and then I come back and read it over. I find that I end up changing my message in 90 - 95% of the time. Emotion can be a powerful force if not controlled~!

My father always use to say to me - "It is far better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt".

Life is far far too short and unpredictable to spend it looking for battles or being negative - There's enough real negative and unsettling incidents in each of our lives that we should look to this forum as an escape if even for a few minutes from all the day to day pressures each of us have little choice but to face.

Just my opinion from up here in the cheap seats~!

Loved the jokes guys ! I was in a conversation with Don awhile back and revealed I had just turned 50 and was now officially a OLD MAN ! And he called me a young snapper !!! Lol !!! On a more serious note , I stay OUT of all this fussing and arguing and it bothers me to see it happening ! I think we need some senior members to help moderate the forum , Maybe we vote them in or have Excalibur pick some . We need to remember we have young people and Ladies on here and need to set an good example ! JMO

59 and still in the Air Force. Mandatory retirement coming up in 74 days. Work gets in the way of huntin' and fishin' anyway. Never went to Hooters for the food or the game...............what happens on TDY, stays on TDY. Lord help me if I ever come to think the food is good there.

These forums have really changed from a place where primarily people would exchange information and ideas to just another form of social media. Unfortunately all the baggage that we find in today's social media comes with it.
I can't begin to quantify how much this forum has affected my life, mostly in a positive way. I have been fortunate enough to meet (and hunt with) a lot of members here both past and present. Those have always been positive experiences and I always look forward to them. I remember one of the first "meet and greets" that I went to. It was hosted by Kirk (Mtbkyk) at a small bar and I drove from Kitchener to Woodstock in heavy snowfall just to get there because I wasn't sure I'd get an opportunity to meet some of these members again. It was an awesome evening and I remember the great feeling of putting the faces to the names. Luckily that was just the start of things to come and we've had some great times and made great friendships with many forum members and their families over the years. Sadly a number of those members are no longer active for one reason or another but we still try to stay in touch and cross paths when we can. This is one reason Boofest is one of the first things we pencil in the calender every year. We've been very fortunate to have made every one so far and it really is like a family reunion with a few new "cousins" joining us each year. Boofest is much like the forum used to be, like minded people sharing ideas and BS hunting stories and feeling feeling richer for having been part of it. I'm not sure this forum will ever get back to that and for now I just try to weed out the good from the bad and get on with life.

Well said Mike! I try my best to stay out of these types of threads too. Saddens me in a way to see this great forum degrade into just another run-of-the-mill internet forum full of insults and personal attacks. Take the high road and stay above the fray, that's my motto. Folks should try it sometime, you'll find you get a lot less BS on you that way :D My .02 FWIW.

Count me in the old boys club. I miss the old days also and all the people I called friends. Most have gone quiet as well. Mine was when Excalibur brought in their abuse policy to protect Joe. That was it for me.

Thanks guy for posting this thread, I'm a few days from 55 and was initially excited when I found this forum. I don't post much and try to avoid the junk, and read the good. Greg
