New 405 Mega!

Post by Gamikatsu »

well folks, i have been away for a long while, and it was NOT in vain! The old faithful Vortex got sold, and i picked up a Matrix 405 Mega. I didn't really want or need the monsterous power, but my local sporting goods shop (small business) is owned by a Masonic Brother of mine, and he gave me a screaming deal on it. WAY below MSRP. i got the "right stuff package, i suppose, which has the R.E.D.S device (which looks very simliar to the S5 btw) It has the Twilight DLX scope, Guardian anti dry fire, and quiver/arrows. it looks amazing, handles well, and although i haven't shot it yet, i'm sure it shoots just as amazing. i will say however... it is a BEAST to cock at 290 lbs.

When i unboxed it, the string had stretched to the point it had indented the limbsaver REDS pads pretty deeply. i emailed Excal and they sent me some comforting words regarding it, and the trigger recall (which mine already had the new trigger). I went back to my buddy at the shop and bought a stringing aid, as mine went with my Vortex. Reset the brace height to about 1/4" off the pads, and waxed the string with Daltons. looks to be an amazing setup!

Congratulations on a Fine Bow!!

But please don't keep us up to date on just how Fine it shoots and it's many other Virtues! You see I almost have myself convinced I don't need a 405 anytime soon! Image

Cheers,

Cool...I just got one today too and my string was into the bumpers as well. I adjusted that and shot about a doz arrows out of it....holy moly it is fast and seems to be accurate as well! Can't wait to shoot something besides a target. Not sure what broadheads I will use though!

The M405 is faster , has eye watering accuracy, has a flatter trajectory than most xbows which results in a longer "ethical" range. The power is there, of course, but that's not the real advantage of the M405: it's extended range. Who wouldn't want that?

Glad to see I'm not the only Georgia boy shooting a 405! You will be impressed when you get a shot on a deer. I chose to use grim reaper x bow heads and it has been one awesome deadly combination my brother. One of the deer I took literally hit the ground and never took another step. From the time I pulled the trigger it was over in four seconds!
Keep us posted and good luck.
I'd rather be shooting my Excalibur.
