Too early for the countdown to deer season?

Post by chris4570 »

66 days between today and the opener here in southern Ontario. Fortunately there is some waterfowling to do before that, and a crossbow shoot with Big Bear to get in shape for the deer.

I guess I can reread all the deer hunting books/articles as a refresher.

Hey Chirs, you can always get out and do some pre-season scouting and some trimming around your tree stand. I was out last friday afternoon and did some trimming, while I was out I saw 2 doe's with their fawns.

There is nothing better than watching little fawns playing
shoot straight stay late.

It is never too early to scout for deer!

I try to observe ; from a distance deer in my fields.

A wise old man told me that young deer are like teenagers; they think they always have to be eating.

This learned, we can see the animals out in the bean fields and take inventory at the same time.

Just being out in the fresh air makes me anxious for the season to arrive!

But first ; the early goose season!

Take a non-hunter out with you; and introduce them to the marvels of being one with nature!!

Oneshot........
Leave the concrete jungle behind and just go hunting !

Chris,

It's never too early to start counting down to opening day. I started the day after last season ended.

Hey guys if you can not wait for deer season come up to Nunavut and hunt Caribou and Musk-ox wit me. the season starts Aug 15th!! I will be there from Aug 8th through Sept 9th in the town of Iqaliuit. Most of the largest Caribou ever taken was from the Barren Ground Caribou. ie. Nunavut. If you can get to Iqaliuit I can provide your housing free as mine is paid for by my job. Send me a pm.

46 days and counting (September 11) here in Georgia...

Already getting food plots ready and shooting lanes cleared...

Getting pretty anxious...

That first doe that comes in range doesn't stand a snowball's chance in h**l...I always have to get a couple in the freezer before I get too picky...
