Any reccomended crossbows?

Post by Asking Bowman5 »

Hello, im thinking of buying either a m355 or a m380 blackout. I like the speed of the blackout and the color, but the draw weight might be a lot to draw, im younger, and strong but I need one I can shoot long periods of time. the 355 is lighter, still fast, and easy to draw. any reccomendations? what do you think? :)

I shot my 355 for nearly 3 hours straight a couple weeks ago . I don't know how many times I actually shot it but it was a lot . The 380 has a 20 pound heavier pull but I don't how much more you would notice it since I have never shot a 380 . I have shot my friends 405 and I could definitely notice the extra pounds on it . I wouldn't want to shoot the 405 for any length of time for sure . I think you will be happy with the 355 or the 380 - they're both Excaliburs !

The 355 doesn't come with the cheekpiece, REDS or ADF. It also won't come in the blackout finish, if that's your thing.

A lot of people love their 355s but I see them as a model that has been squeezed out. Hear me out. Certain Micro 335's shoot in the upper 340's, almost as fast as a 355, and the Micros come equipped with cheekpiece, REDS and ADF. Above the Matrix 355, you have the 380 and it comes with REDS, cheekpiece and ADF and it's faster which is a selling point for many. The Micro 335 and Matrix 380 aren't that much more cash when it comes down to it, which is why I wouldn't buy a Matrix 355.

The 380 won't be that much more difficult to cock in comparison and if you're young and fit, you'll have no problem with it on long sessions, (I shoot 3D and it's no problem). Learn correct form and you'll be fine with it.

I owned the 380 and Micro at the same time . I couldn't tell much difference in cocking but after one trip thru the woods packing the Micro. I was hooked

No right answer for everyone: like what caliber rifle should I get for hunting?.
The faster the bow, the longer the range. The 380 & 405 are the beanfield rifles of the Excaliber line. The 355 is inbetween . And the 310,330, and 335 are on the shorter range end, but are not short range(at least 50 yds).
I think most people hunt varying situations.
I hunt longer ranges so I own a 380 & a 405. If I got a third xbow, it'd be a Mini. To me, using a C-2. Cocker wouldn't get in the way of the power I want: I'd just use it.

If this be true I would recommend:

Otherwise go with the 380 especially if you are young and buff. I'm late middle age, 5' 9", 180 lbs, out of shape and I can easy pull the 380 twenty to thirty times. The 405 is a little tougher and after about 10 shots I pass it to my son.

As stated before, the best value is the 380. It comes fully decked out, the 405 is the beast, but not the all day at the range bow. Go 380, and don't look back.

Honestly, I'd go with neither and pick the Micro, unless you really need the extra power of the 380. If you're doing any stalking or blind hunting, the Micro is hard to beat and it is plenty fast enough for any game. The Micro Nightmares are in the 340s, almost as fast as the 355. And they're black, like the Matrix Blackout you seem to like.
I absolute love mine, such a sweet, handy little bow.

Also lots of swords if the arrow doesn't finish the job :D

Although it was just one shot, my NightMare chroned 349FPS with a 350 Gr Micro Quille at the shop I bought it from. After I changed arrows ,weight and setup (BEE's with different nocks etc @ 421Gr) she is shooting 320FPS.

Lets lay out all the goodies that come wid some of the models. 380 comes wid'em so does the the Micro. The 355 comes bare n you have to buy that gal all her stuff. Like a country girl vs a city gal one was shunned given nutten the others were thought to be the cream on top n got theirs from jump street. I bought the country gal put clothes on her. She reminds me of Cindyrella she were a step child n thought to be less than the others. Gotstid news fer ya, she be a pretty diamond in the ruff :)
