O/T Question

Post by paulaboutform »

Has anyone tried the Work Sharp Ken Onion Edition knife /tool sharpener? If so how does it work, what are your thoughts and do you recommend it?

Paul i have the original work sharp. I haven't looked at the difference between the two yet but i love mine. It takes a few tries to get used to it practice on a old knife its easy to round off tips if you arent careful. It makes knives SHARP, fast and easy to use once you have the hang of it. I can do all my spam knives in minutes. I would reccomend it. Now to go look at the Ken Onion edition.

Paul, The work sharp or the new and improved Ken Onion edition are without a doubt my favorite sharping tool ever. I own both, had the original work sharp for six years, and the improved Ken Onion for over two years, right after they came out. Before I used wet stones ,dry stones, ceramic, Lansky system, and others, just never got the results I wanted. Until work sharp came along.. There is a small learning curve to getting the touch and feel of it, And like said start out with cheaper knives and practice, Read all the user guilds and take your time. Because you can if not carful destroy the blade of a good knife in a hurry..After all its a belt sander. And the course green belts are steel eating. But once mastered in a few minutes you can have the sharpest blade possible. I have lots of knifes swords, and other bladed toys, work sharp is #1.. And the Ken Onion, has a stronger motor wider belt system and is a good improvement. But both are excellent.. Cant go wrong for me the only way to go.. if you have any other questions p.m. me .. Be glad to help.....

I like mine a lot and as Bubba mentioned there is a learning curve to master before you use it on your finest knives. My learning curve was certainly longer than Bubba's

Oh... About the learning curve, once mastered. The sharpening process only should be a few minutes, as norm pointed out. My writing skills aren't the best. I try but the gift of pen.. alludes me. But still a great system... Never!! carry a dull knife.........

Look up knife sharpening with harbor freight 1x30 belt sanders on YouTube I stumbled upon them while searching for reviews on the worksharps and I ended up buying the sander and some assorted belts on amazon a 600 grit belt and a surgisharp leather belt will make any knife a razor it's cheaper and very easy to do
