Rope cocker

Post by HorizontalArchr »

It's been awhile but deer season is fast approaching. Got my matrix set up today and when I was putting on the string I got to thinking. What purpose does that clear tubing on the rope cocker serve. Mine is all beat up and often seems like it does more harm then good by getting in the way. If I take it off should I b concerned with the strength of the stringing aid. Will the string wear down faster unprotected and possibly become a safety hazard? Should I upgrade to better paracord? Or am I just getting paranoid and overthinking this? What ya thinking?

some of the people on the forum use the cord you mentioned and some upgrade to a new string aid by Danny Miller. I have one by Danny and put serving on mine to take up wear so far so good on the serving. or you can just replace the tubing. JMO. good luck to you.

you will see some wear on the string aid as you use it . in time you will see what I mean . so I put some serving on mine to help with the wear . just something I decided to do on my own. . when you get a string aid from Excalibur they come with a peace of tubing .

The clear tubing is on the string aid, not the rope cocker. I slide it down to one side and never use it. PIA in my humble opinion.

I just took mine off. No serving to replace it and have noticed no string wear in past 4 years with it and use it a lot on my Excals.

Sounds good. I'm just going to cut it on off and use it w/o since I have no idea how to put a serving on it. Obviously I will monitor the string just to be safe in case of wear.

I never used it either, it's too thick, but it's only used to swap out strings so it does not get used very often, so it should last forever even if used without the tubing
