I take 4.

If I miss that many times, it is time to go home.:)

If I harvest that many deer, it is still time to go home, at least for that day. :)

In the field? Four = for obvious reasons:

On a hunt away from home? A Dozen!

The most definitely away from home part was meant to mean, away from home, say on trip further than 40mins away. :)

Well my quiver also holds four arrows, and that's what i take with me. I have three ready for deer, and i keep one fixed blade with me in case a hog or Yote or other critter comes along. Came back a couple times with just one left. But never with the ending Nog had....

If I recall, you posted some photos of some Blacktail's in your front yard, are you sure you didn't mean "only 40 yards from my sofa".

Anyway, to add to this thread, since 1994 I carry only 3 arrows gripped by my Kwik 3 quiver into the field without ever having any regrets.

Three with broadheads and one with a blunt for pheasant or grouse.

Always a dozen. Four in my quiver and the rest in the truck.

After getting to my stand last year opening day and finding out I dropped my Excalibur quiver off my bow I now use a 3 arrow kwicki quiver that won't fall off my bow.
