Help me get my Fix(ed) - Slick Trick Vs. Ramcat
I've always shot expendables, but would like to tinker with some fixed blade heads. Just curious how my Micro will shoot them. I'm shooting 100 grain heads on my BEZ's.
In my reading on here, it seems as though the fixed guys tend to go with either Slick Tricks or Ramcats.
Now...
For you slick trick guys, which one do you prefer?
Standard, Magnum, or xbow version?
Only one review on Cabelas for xbow slick trick and it was not good. Guy said that other slick tricks have always shot great but the xbow did not. Thoughts?
For you ramcat guys, are you getting "field point accuracy" with them and what results have you seen on game with them?

Re: Help me get my Fix(ed) - Slick Trick Vs. Ramcat
I shoot the Stick Trick 100 grain "standards" and 100 grain Ramcats. Both shoot to the same poi as my field points out to 50 yards for me.. Max distance I can practice in the back yard.
Haven't shot an animal with the Ramcats yet but plenty with the ST's.. Both are great heads, but the ST's are a less maintenance type head. Meaning that they are simple and less complicated than the Ramcats.. The screws on the Ramcats have to be tightened after each shot when practicing because the blades swing forward when pulling out of the target. However the Ramcat does less damage to your target because of the blades swinging forward. Whereas other types of fixed heads tend to pull chunk when removing.

I shoot the Slick Trick Mags in 100 grain. That's my broad head for hogs. And they eat em up. For me they shot close to my field points, with only minor adjustments needed....

I think you have to tweak to any broadhead unless you are satisfied with 1/2" variations. For me, that works! I call that field point accurate.

There is a link to some testing on Crossbow Predators forum that tested several heads, and the Ramcats finished 2nd overall, which means a lot if you see the testing they all went through. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Re: Help me get my Fix(ed) - Slick Trick Vs. Ramcat
Both are great broadheads but i have never seen a fixed blade fly like the Ramcats! It cuts a nice hole and penatrates great! Blades curl on the ends when shot threw the shoulder but i can live with that..
Re: Help me get my Fix(ed) - Slick Trick Vs. Ramcat
I heard back from a representative for Slick Trick regarding the difference between the "crossbow" model and the other models offered.
Apparently there is NO difference between the Magnum and Crossbow models other than the packaging.
Thought I would pass along what she said:
"Thank you for contacting us.
There is no difference between the 100 grain Magnum and the 100 grain Xbow model broadhead. This year we added the Xbow 100 broadhead in packaging as it was requested by large distributors. The only other difference would be the grain as we have 125 grains for the Magnum and the 150 grain for the Xbow.
If you have any further questions or concerns, please let us know.
Thank you!
Sincerely,
Heidi Zimmer

Re: Help me get my Fix(ed) - Slick Trick Vs. Ramcat
Certainly don't want to raise the hair on anybody's back but my Muzzy Trocars shoot exactly to the same POI as my fieldtips. Ramcats and Slicks are also quality heads.xcaliber wrote:I think you have to tweak to any broadhead unless you are satisfied with 1/2" variations. For me, that works!
