greetings

Post by ohiobuck »

Hello to you all. After a decade I have finally pulled the trigger on an Excalibur. I have seen plenty of new models over the years. I went with the 405...Mainly for the scope. Cost wise of getting the package just worked out best for me.
I am just getting back to hunting this year. I used to bow hunt in upstate N.Y.
Now that I am in a crossbow legal state I had to get one.
Cheers to everyone glad to finally be a part of the community.

Congrats! Welcome to the club, and enjoy the new bow. Any questions, this is the place to get the best answers. Understand brace height, and make sure you get some Blue 242 Locktite. It is a good idea to secure the scope mount screws with it, they will work loose. They can be a bit of a pain in the rear so be careful not to strip the heads.

Thank everyone.
Excal.....locktite was installed before first practice shots. I have a Harley..always have loctite on hand.lol
I did have major issues on trying to decock my bow using the rope. I am assuming it was the way i was holding it. Trying to pull trigger and hold the anti dry fire in at the same time. I am thinking it will be better to just keep a messed up bolt to fire into the ground. I currently have 3 arrows stuck in my reinheart block. So it looks like arrow pliers are on the list for today.
I have been enjoying my reads here and learning a bit.
Thank you

.....Well a big shout out to you Ohiobuck...obviously don't have to ask you to complete your registration so we know where you hail from because it is all in your name!

....yes, this is one big happy family. Let's just say we put the FUN in "dysFUNctional!" ....and we try to do it respectfully...

....we invite all in if you want to be part of the group...a lot to learn and absorb....I was fearful of the decocking process...in fact, if truth be told, I left the woods early one evening so I could decock my XB out of fear I wouldn't be able to do it correctly and would have to shoot it into the ground....now it's like second hand...don't give up you'll get 'er done!

....hopefully you are happy with your 405 choice...many of us have just resigned ourselves to the fact that we will need to be replacing this scope and just go ahead and do it! I have chosen and love the Leupold Crossbones...many have chosen others like Hawke, Nikon and Zeiss...It's your bow, so dress her up as you see fit...

....Welcome again, nice to have ya aboard, strap in, the Excalibur Express is about to depart for hunting camp!

Thanks Bubba.
I sure would appreciate it more if my target would get here for field points. I might take my target core into work and try and get my arrows out of it. won't be firing off anymore field points into it without a good arrow puller. lol
