I did not have to upgrade my rings, but choose to do so. I got a set of Warne steel rings and haven't looked back.

Hey Brother, I'm afraid to ask but how do you like your Tac Pack? Better stability shooting off hand or on a monopod?

I have never shot the bow without the Tac Pac. I have since swapped out the folding grip with a better quality one. The mount is Excaliburs. My Kodabow Zulu Scout also has the same grip. As far as I am concerned there is no other way :D

I use anything that holds the scope. I use the Excalibur rings, Traditions, Burris Zee, Leupolds etc and other than maybe some weight savings, I have not seen an actual benefit.
Upgrading is a waste of money but if your boat floats higher, have at it and smile! :D

Ive had the Excalibur rings arrive almost stripped and gouged. They feel like if they could save 13 cents in manufacturing they would.

I had issues several years ago but it seems they've upgraded their rings in the last couple of years.
I had the head of some of the fasteners pop off during tightening but I know they corrected that issue.

My experience with the sub-par rings doesn't date back decades ago, I speak from my experience with rings that my Micro shipped with.

They should just outsource the rings to Leupold or Millett for example and get us some quality 15$ rings, save us the trouble (at no extra cost mind you).

Totally agree !! Excalibur rings are just fine -- spend your $ elsewhere.

I found it, they're 1" rings.

I recently bought a new Toyota Tacoma SR5 4X4 Quad Cab truck, very nice i might add. It is pretty much loaded up, and not cheap by any means. I have the Entunes system in it with XM Radio, USB compatible, CD etc. It has front / rear speakers, and separate tweeters, and a sub woofer. It was a good sounding system for all purposes. The rear speakers especially sounded flat, so i bought some JBL low wattage 2 way speakers form Crutchfield, and it is much more enjoyable. Hard to believe, but Toyota is really not in the Stereo business! I'm very happy now listening to my Judas Priest. Just Saying.

Hate to say it, but I had one break last year.

Actually they were an old set (may not even have been named PRW at the time I bought them) and were not the same exact design as the new PRW rings sold today. Hard to explain without pics, but they has a very thin area on the side where the clamp tightens to the base, and a piece of the ring broke off when I tightened the screw. The new PRW rings Leupold sent me do look unbreakable.
Of course, one phone call and I had a return authorization to send them back for a set of the new style.

I use steel rings exclusively these days as I've had too many sets of aluminum strip the threads when tightening them.
