Blind Hunting/Shooting Question

Post by TheBig1 »

Does anyone who uses a ground blind actually shoot through the mesh on the blind or do you strictly shoot through the shooting holes?

Of course this could only be done with a fixed broadhead and not a mechanical.

Now then, get your equipment, your quiver and bow, and go out to the open country to hunt some wild game for me.

I shoot strictly through the holes since I use mechanicals.

And if you have never hunted from a blind before practice shooting from it before hand to get used to it. Dont forget to factor in the arrow height to the bottom of the shooting window. Its not hard to accidentally shoot through the blind due to this

Also, beware the "BLACK HOLE" as in the deer will notice it if you leave the windows closed until your ready to hunt and then the camo goes all black and they pick up on it real quick.

What I did this year was spray paint my mesh with flat black. That way when i put it out and brushed it in I could leave the mesh up and windows down that way the deer get used to the black hole and wont the wiser when i drop the mesh.

I cant speak for xbow, but w/ rifle the concussion will blow the hell out of it! . . this came up a month or so ago. it think the general consensus was to leave them constantly down. 1- no problem w/ yer shot. 2- the deer will get use to the black and not be spooked.

I shoot mechanicals too (Rage) so I put the screens down. :)

....mechanical, hence the above consensus of windows open is the method I follow....

Shot fixed blade broadheads out of ground blinds with and without the mesh no problems, trying a ghostblind this year to see how they work will let you know on that later............

100% AGREE WITH THE FIXED BLADES AND NETTING, GOOD TO GO. THE MECHANICALS CAN/WILL DEFLECT AND PROBABLY OPEN OR WORSE HIT AND WOUND AN YOUR INTENDED TARGET, NEVER TO BE SEEN AGAIN.
