I can't speak for Michigan, but on my places in east Texas and NW Oklahoma, deer movement has been a little "off" this fall. I contribute it to moon phase and warmer temperatures in these areas.

I've managed to score a couple really nice bucks, but I've had to work at it.

Where I hunt in Northern VA it is VERY slow. I've actually seen more bear than deer over the last week. Two. I saw nothing but a bear yesterday evening. This morning I saw nothing. I checked my three cameras on the way out and they all saw nothing last night either. I know where I will not be this evening.

I've got one week left in the bow season here and it doesn't look good for bagging anything before the muzzleloader and gun seasons start. Certainly not a nice buck. I'm not seeing them at all, even at night. There is just too much corn in nearby fields holding the deer away from my hunting area.

Here in Eastern Ontario most of our hardwood trees lost their leaves a week to ten days back.

That always seems to spook the snot out of Bambi for a week or two - I suspect that they just feel "so exposed" that they shut down at first.

Normally in the last week of October they start to get back into their routine. Until then I'm taking the opportunity to resupply my feed piles and apples.

(this guy was out on the 19th munching my apples)

With the full moon hitting this Thursday I will yield to the "voodoo" and start actively hunting (again) then

The timing of deer movements/actions has been unusual here this season.
The usual rub/scrape lines haven't been hit except for one exception of a couple feeble scrape attempts. I had one picture of a fawn still nursing this week, and the bucks just aren't moving like they usually do this time of year.

that sounds normal for Michigan. been slow for years in the NLP. talk to friends in the U.P. and it is even slower up there. few deer left to be seen! I have seen 5 all season and none in range that were big enough to be worth getting bloody

They were moving early last evening.
Thing is they do not have to move far!
Acorns were the draw where I got busted...
They were in the fields browsing on the way home also.
Limited movement ,,but why not if no reason to cover anymore ground than necessary?

Bucks are getting the itch though.
Here on out they should be more visible visiting doe groups.
Find the preferred feed to find the does. Find them to find the bucks.

Catch them on the in between's where possible.

I was wondering the same thing until today. I checked out a new spot of mine more hardwoods, a buddy of mine and I went scouting it for a set up and we spotted 2 about 80 yards away.
