My buddy just picked this up for $375. I know that it came with a crank and think that it came with a whole lot of other stuff. Does anyone have any information about this bow that they could pass along?
Thanks,
Chad

I will let them more knowledgeable than me chime in, what i remember...

At 340 ft/sec with a 400 gr arrow, it's pretty good in this day and age.
Danny Miller has strings, cables and slides available.
Danny also was instrumental in the development of this bow.He is THE guru on Buckmasters/Maxpoints. Give him a call. He is a wealth of information on these.
340 fps w/ 400 gr. arrow and...easy to cock! I know they got wheels, but they do have some virtues.
Well my buddy John brought this Excal over today to shoot for the first time. He got a lot of aluminum arrows with Ignitors on them and a bunch of 90 grain 4 blade Muzzy's and Steel Force broadheads.
Well after about a half hour we thought that we had it. We looked down and noticed that the cable had come out of the slide, was rubbing on the rail, and one strand/string of the cable had torn.
Now my question is, would that still be ok to shoot or does the cable need replacing?
Replace. Danny Miller has these and can walk you through anything you need to do on this bow .I know this because he just re did mine a couple of months ago.

The only thing is that we don't have a bow press to do the work.

I took, the two bolts out of the riser and sent Danny the whole front assembly. HE has a bow press and will get you back in business with it all timed correctly . As paulaboutform says" Easy Peasy"
I have one now and had several over the years. With Danny's cables/strings they will push a 445grn 2219 to 338fps. I've "detuned" the one I have left for dryfire protection(limbs & cams are impossible to get) and still get 340fps through my chrono with a 415gr arrow. I have not chrono'd a 400gr or lighter arrow out of it with Danny's Recommended Brace Height of 3.5", but I assure you it would exceed 350fps easily.
Here is some info I have acquired:
Axle to Axle 27.75 (measured 27.75 inside edge of axles after cables installed and twisted)
Overall LENGTH 39.5
Stock String 38.25/450 (Danny’s strings are 38.25” also)
Stock Cables 28.875/450 (Danny’s are 27.5” Stock were 28.75”)
STOCK Integral
Handle Material MACH/ALUM
Limb Size O-TYPE
Limb Material CARBON QUAD STRAIGHT 27.75
Weight 6.7 lbs
Brace Height(from riser joint)
3.5” with Danny’s Cables (27.5)=339fps with 450grn arrow
3.25” with Danny’s Cables(untwisted for cam clearance/dryfire protection) (27.5)=327fps with 450grn arrow
3.0” with original Stock stretched cables(28.75” cables)

Danny Miller is the man to contact on these but you need to protect the limbs/cams, as NOBODY has a set without buying another complete bow.
FWIW I use a regular Excal Recurve Front end on mine when I loan it out(everything interchanges) as well and it shoots 321fps with FFF and 2219/450gr arrow. If you dryfire bow, chances are it will ruin the Zero letoff cams but the limbs will survive.
I have the "slip in" limbsavers on mine and it's deadly quiet, fast and shoots the same awesome groups that my other Excals shoot.
Another item you need to get is the cable slide from Tenpoint. The stock ones will eat up your cables. The tenpoint ones have "belled grooves" and larger diameter grooves for the increased strand count of crossbow harness. I STRONGLY suggest getting a couple.
Any other questions, feel free to PM me and I'll give you phone number.

Hey Chris, thank you so much for all of that information. That's some great stuff there. It's amazing to hear you say that we could just throw a different front end on it to make it a longbow. That's pretty cool. And yes, I told him yesterday that he'd definitely need a better slide.
Let me ask you this, he has the aluminum arrows, do you also shoot carbon out of it instead of the aluminum?
flightattendant100 wrote:Just keep weight up at 400 grains or above, you will be ok. I did put an ADF on mine since most parts are non existent.
I told my buddy the same thing about the ADF. I said all parts are interchangeable and should fit with no problem. He said that he did hear that about no less than a 400 grain arrow.
