So the guy is big enough to give permission to someone to hunt his property without making him pay a lot of money and get insurance and he is a jerk for cutting his timber? This is how it works, eh? :?

Cutting the trees is part of the cycle of timber management. A good hunter will use these things to their advantage and continue to be thankful they have a place.

Little hint: deer like to check out recent timber cutting. If you don't believe me, walk out there and look for tracks.

No I never called him a jerk and it is his right to do what ever he wants with his land I never said anything to the contrary! Please don't put words in my mouth that I don't mean. I just wish he told me he was going to cut the property. Good Luck.

Sorry for the confusion chief. My comment was actually in reference to a post in which your landowner was called chicken s---. Good luck with your hunting.

Thanks guys I still have a small 5 Ac. piece and took a trip out to Monticello and hunted there 1.45 hrs away from home. I live about 60 miles south and west of Atlanta. i feel good about the spot in Monticello but it's so far I will only get there once a week. Being retired I wanted to hunt every day especially now that the rut is starting. I just wish he could had waited a couple months before he started cutting.

60 miles S & W of Atlanta? LaGrange or thereabouts I would suspect.
There should be several good hunting clubs looking for members pretty much all over GA. Go to www.gon.com and look up there hunting land special (Sept or Oct. issue) to see clubs wanting hunters. Maybe you can hunt on some of the WMAs in the area.
