Matrix Off Season Storage

So I just wrapped up the 2015 archery deer season in CT and probably won’t be shooting my 355 again until springtime. Any tips or advise for off season storage? Should I take the string off and relax the limbs?

Nope... just store it in a nice cool spot during the summer months.

It won't hurt your limbs either way. Do leave your cocking aid attached to the string, leaving it uncocked of course, so if any stretching occurs you're not into your bumpers.

Good enough reason for me to to take the few extra minutes and remove the string.
Especially if you plan to store it for the next 5 to 6 months or more.
What ever way you decide to proceed give your string a fresh waxing prior to storage at least.

I like to clean the limb tips - (so string off).
Plus I use Q- tips to clean in and around the trigger claws and any other area where dirt can accumulate ( rail track, scope mount).
Wipe the rail down with soft cloth misted with WD 40. ( jigaloo etc...)
Plus wipe all exposed metal screws and bolts with the same cloth. etc...

I hang mine on a hook in the gun room just the way she is after a good cleaning and a little oil on the metal. I have a pad lock hasp that goes over the foot hoop and locks it so the kids can't get it down .no Chance anyone can play with it ..very easy to do .put the lock hoop above the foot rest and the hinged part below the foot rest once you hand the bow on the hook just close the clasp and put the pad lock on .Dutch

I remove my string as well. Following the same steps as indicated by CC in prior post. It's so easy to do as I don't have air brakes to take off.

I just hang my bow on a peg in the basement - strung (with the cocking aid keeping the string off my S5's as suggested).

You never know when you will have a "crossbow emergency", so I want it "ready to go"

I would never have dreamt of that as a problem.

You must have a much higher humidity than I experience in central Manitoba. I've left field points and broadheads installed on arrows for years without any problem.

I avoid hunting in the rain whenever I can, so my arrows don't get rained on much. I guess I have them installed tight enough to keep out rain on those occasions I get caught.

Or, maybe with my equipment the insert is aluminum and also the threads. That would avoid corrosion perhaps. Interesting.....

Isn't freedom to choice just great

However! It is something I experienced and and will therefore continue to do so.
The field points I use are steel and do rust. Have not seen or heard of aluminum field points interesting...

But then again I also see hunting in the rain differently.

My broad heads are removed when not in use and placed in special containers which protects the blade edges as well as to prevent accidents.

If you see no need to do so based on your life experiences then do so for sure. Our individual choices and life experience is what makes each and everyone of us unique .

I used to remove the DB pads and unstrung my Exocet. Now I just clean it and hang it on a hook during the off season.
