Just walked into the patch of woods right next to our job site in Kingston and bumped into a nice size doe. She made about three jumps and then turned around to see what spooked her. I sat down in front of a tree down wind of her. Ten minutes later she came walking back, tail waging and everything. She walked to within 5 yards of me and bedded down. It's preety cool how they can get your heart pumping even out of season .
She started to doze off, so I thought I would leave before she got too comforatble. You should have see the look on her when I stood up at 5 yards .
It's funny how used to human noise they can get. She was bedded down about 50 yards from where our excavator was working.
That's cool! I think deer, especially outside of hunting season, will find sanctuary in close proximity to people, as predators are generally even less comfortable around people.
