Excal Rope cocker

Post by GRUNDY »

When do you guys replace your excal rope cockers?

I have about 450 cycles on my rope cocker. The hooks are wearing out where they rub the rail. Wondering how far they can wear before they will break?

Thanks,

Brian

I have a rope cocker that I have used for over 5 years
I shoot about every other day
When I asked the Doc
The advice was when rope starts to show sever wear time to change
May my aim be true and my arrow fly straight

I wish we could just buy the rope they use. Mine is a little frayed now from my 330.

when you get a new rope wax it up like a bow string. it will last you a lot longer . also turn your hooks out or up if you prefer . this may help.

Get yourself a replacement cord for a lawnmower pull starter - it's white but it's just as tough and almost the correct length.

Two of my cockers (original rope frayed out) have it as a replacement and have already lasted twice as long as the original cord.

5mm kernmantle rope from REI or any rock climbing place will work exceptionally well and not show wear. The hooks though...they will wear where they rub the rail. I just bought a spare cocker for this reason.
