A BOAR HUNTING I GO***THE LAST DAY BIG BOY***

Post by paulaboutform »

Well, I'm now at the airport waiting for my flight to Edmonton to go to my friend's place to hunt Russian Boars. Thank goodness I booked my flight on a seat sale months ago or I wouldn't have ended up with any hunting time at all this year. Working 17 - 20 hours a day for months on end really takes its toll so I'm quite ready for a few days in the blind. Temps are, unfortunately, much milder this year. Last year the temperature was between -25 and -31 with piles of snow. This year is between -7 and 0 degrees with no snow . My buddy started baiting just over a week ago and has seen some hogs. Four days ago he saw a big boy on the bait, on the way to his deer stand, but said one of the tusks was broken off. Sounds like the rut is starting. I'll be hunting this afternoon until Saturday. I'll check in with updates when I can. Take care all.

Holy smokes, 600gr!!!! Someone's got to explain to me sometime the breakdown of how you build an arrow that heavy. Especially with getting it to 20% FOC.

I slugged a 7" aluminum shaft piece with a thick walled 5" carbon shaft piece then slugged my zombie with that setup and seated it with a 110 grain brass insert.
....and funny you should mention sausages, I mixed up a batch of seasoning for my Italian sausage recipe. I made enough for a 100lbs batch and I'll have the butcher mix it to my specs and case it for me. :D ......lookout BOOFEST 2016!

Two more reasons that I need to make it to Boofest next year. I've got to see these arrows in person to understand and shoot but also, Chad likes him some sausage!!!
