Hi Keith,

The RamCats look pretty solid. I will be checking them out this summer.

I was not familiar with the Gold Tip Nitro Pros but will give them a look also. I like heavy bolts and currently use the FMJ bolts at 13.7 grains per inch. The Nitros are a little heavier at 13.9 per inch and a little straighter at .001 per inch for the Nitro’s compared to .003 per inch for the FMJ’s. How do the Nitro’s compare from an accuracy and durability perspective?

Hi CT
The GT Nitro's come in 0.001" and 0.005" and are actually re-marketed Laser 4s.....although I don't think those ever came as 0.001". I had 3 Laser 4s and a buddy gave me 3 Nitros. All shot the same and were accurate out to 40 yds with my RamCats. I had about a 1.5" group at 40 for the 6 arrows with BHs on them.

I have also used FMJs for bison and hogs. They are also pretty accurate although there was always the one flyer arrow and I did bend a couple. So overall I'd give the nod to the GTs.

On both the brass inserts are only 60gr, so to get the weight of the arrow up I added 50gr insert weights inside the arrow. That is another nice thing with the GTs....they have that FACT system that lets you really customize the weight and FOC. Durability-wise the GTs seem good. The one that I put through that buff is just fine other than needing a new blazer.

I also worked with NuFletch to get some Igniters custom made for the GTs. They did not offer a 0.272ID nock, but made some up for me when I asked and sent them some shaft samples. Great guys to deal with. They plan to market this size now, so they should be available soon.

All in all The GT Nitro Pros are a good choice for larger game I think. Of course they will do very well on deer sized game as well.
