Aluminium bolts

Post by Rokon92 »

I'm looking for less expensive bolts for practice and fun shooting. Are aluminium bolts the least expensive route?

Carbon makes more sense for 3D targets because they take more abuse. But if you're careful it is a cheaper way to go. It's easy to bend aluminum shafts when they are pulled out of foam, so stick to bag targets. Carbon shafts can shatter on the shot if they are damaged and I don't see that happening to aluminum.

If you shoot foam targets get a "Danny Miller" arrow puller. Give the arrow a slight twist (quarter turn) to break it loose and pull straight back.
Aluminum is what I use, but I don't shoot foam targets much anymore.

Clarification to my previous post:
The "Danny Miller" puller method works with field tips only!
