hawke xb1 sr ir questions

Post by deerman41 »

Looking to buy scope for back up bow, I have a hawke xb30 and love it , the hawke xb1 seems to have same features only with 1" tube. Anyone have an xb1 and like it?

I too own 2, and love them. I shoot some 2 dozen implements with scopes, rifles, handguns and crossbows, see no need for 30 mm tube, other than bragging rights. The 1.5x5 1" IR SR does EVERYTHING I need it to do without breaking the bank. It's relatively small, has good optics, has trajectory adjustable aiming points and has a lighted on demand reticule -in two colors. It's a very functional and dependable crossbow scope. You can pay (much) more and not get a better all around hunting scope.
Vortex, Phoenix, single-shot rifles and handguns.

Ranging feature

Post by Horizontal Hunter »

I have one as well and like it very much.

The reticle can be used to range a deer as well. The YouTube video below will give you an idea how it works. There is no audio but it is pretty self explanatory. I picked up the Caldwell life size cardboard target that you see in the video to have on hand. It is a great refresher before an during the season.

Like most I use a rangefinder on stand but the ranging feature can be useful in those situations when you don't have the time or opportunity to use the rangefinder.

I have an older XB1 on my Vortex and a newer XB30 SR IR on my Micro. I like them both but the infinite light adjustment on the XB30 is a real nice feature. Also *maybe because it is older) there is a little distortion near the edges of the sight picture with the XB1.
