Total arrow weight for micro 335 users??

Post by bowmajik »

I'm curious as to what all you micro 335 shooters are shooting out of their bows? And their accuracy results. I'd like to know what brand of shaft/weight, what veins, if you're using inserts, lumeknocks, broadhead weights etc.

395gr ###-------> 17" zombie with 170gr field point, aluminum insert, 2" blazers and a lumenock. I have not shot my MicroMax 360 past 55y but I can tell you that free-handed I would never shoot at the same spot twice.

16" Zombie Slayers
80gr brass inserts
2" blazers
Lumenok
100 grain heads
Total Weight: ~373 grains

I picked this combination because it is still over the 350 grain minimum without the lumenok, though just barely at ~353 grains. You can also get a 92 grain brass insert if a ~385 grain arrow is more to your liking.

As for accuracy I can hit a golf ball at 40 yards with field points and can do almost that good with my fixed broadheads.

I only need to build more of them now. :)

Where do you find "aftermarket" arrows? Basspro only seems to have quills in the size needed for the micro. Sorry for the noob questions im super new to archery. Also what is the longest arrow I can safely use out of the micro 335? Thanks in advance for any help.

This is my first Excalibur ..I bought the MICRO 335 ..I had custom arrow maker who tested the micro 335 with arrows make me up 6 .Here is what they were...GT LASER 111 WITH 110 BRASS INSERTS WITH BLAZER VANES IN 18 INCH LENGTH..He tested these at range of 50 yards and got just over 1 inch groups .He make these to help with FOC and has video of his test and feels the LONGER arrow not 16.5 is better...This allows you to use 100 gr field tips or 100 gr hunting tips..He likes the spitfire 100 gr also and I used them for 15 years in my horton bow..I am going to use quill arrows that came with bow for practice and GT LASERS for hunting with spitfire 100 gr ...

weight was 395 gr.......

The cost was 70 dollars and 5 dollars shipping.....

For deer:
16" Zombie Slayer
110gr brass insert
NuFletch Igniter nocks
2" Trueflight feathers
125gr RamCat broadhead
Total Wt is about 423gr
Accuracy is about a 1" group at 40yds with broad heads, off a rest.

For Bigger Game (like Bison)
15.25" Gold Tip Nitro Pro
60gr brass insert
50gr insert wt.
2" Blazer vanes
NuFletch Igniters
125gr RamCat
Total Wt is about 504gr
Accuracy is about a 1" group at 40yds with broad heads, off a rest.

IMO shorter arrows require a little more FOC than longer ones. I would not like 18" arrows in my Micro because I want the arrow contained inside the stirrup.

I shoot 412 grai arrows in mine. I built everything from 360 grain to 425 grain. My best results were with 390 to 415 grains. They shot the the closest speed from arrow to arrow in a 10 shot string,,, less than 1fps Extreme spread in the string. But what I really seen was how much closer and better they shot in different conditions from light rain to 25 mph winds, and at 50 to 70 yards they really shined!

I settled on a Double wall Spynal Tapp from Jerry @ SASS, 80 grain brass insert, 100 grain broadhead, Offset Blazer vanes, and Firenock D2 lighted nocks = 412 grains

This what happens at 40 yards when you shoot at the same aiming point,,, I ruined 4 arrows outa 5 with this stunt, and every arrow hit another arrow, they just kept being pushed to the side of the one already in the target.
Image

This is the results with 2 different fixed broadheads at 70 yards, one 100 grain Magnus Black Hornet, and one standard Slick Trick,,, both 100 grains,, notice you don't aim at the same bull twice, even with different broadheads! I found out the hard way, even at 70 yards you will ruin arrows most times trying to shoot 2 or 3 shots at the same bull, once you get the right arrows fer the Micro.
Image

But if you listen to this video, after trying to quiet the bow to the max, these 400+ grain arrows made the biggest difference in anything I did to get it quiet. From accuracy, to consistency, to smooth shooting and being silent, I think this is as well tuned as I could make the Micro!!

Dan aka: Excalibur put some 15 1/2 " Zombie Slayers with 2" blazers, 92 grain brass inserts and "Ignitor" illuminated nocks together for me ( these were stripped shafts with logo removed ) .... I then added flourescent tape both above and below the vanes for a "Wrap" of sorts...

I'm shooting them at 420 grains with 125 grain field points or similar weight G5 Montecs and getting 307 fps
They come in at 392 grns. with 100 grn. G5's and I'm getting 316 fps.

I do prefer the 125's as they look heavier and perhaps stronger built, and give a slight advantage in the cutting hole diameter.

Both receipes give great flite and accuracy results for me while usuing my Micro.

Gene
BTW I use the very same set up, but cut to 17" for my Matrix 355 with similar results.
