I want to say that I would never belittle or begrudge someone's choice of hunting tool. As long as they can us their tool effectively and I don't see a bunch of three-legged animals running around, all is good. Hunting with this new tool could be amazing, I just can't see it as archery. Can you imagine converting the above linking, Qwackenbush Outlaw, to an arrow launching platform.

With it capable of 732 fps with a 430gr projectile and 509 fpe. What do you think it could do with a 350gr arrow? I'm guessing it would be getting close to that 1,000 fps mark. A serious and long range killing machine, but still not a bow and arrow.

Airbow...It should be called what it is an Arrow Gun. An archery bow by any name has a string on it.
As far as it being legal in some states already. I believe that if you will check each state it is shown legal in you will find that they allow certain airguns to be used during gun seasons. But not allowed in archery seasons. It should be classified as an air gun not a bow.

.....interesting...they will be at the PA show, however they will not be in the archery section but rather the gun section...however, they will have a shooting lane in the archery section and attendees will be allowed to experience shooting it....I am stoked to see, feel and try it...whatever comes of it!....along with the new Excalibur line of course...who knows I might find a buyer for my unused 335 Nightmare!

Thats where it belongs in the gun section Anthony.
Still a gun that launches an arrow.
Gun season all the way... Have at it.
Like i said its loud, needs big tanks to recharge it.
Doesn't propel the arrow with a string or limbs that have been cocked back by the shooter...however...
I like the name Arrow Gun. Lets not confuse this with archery at all.
If someone want to hunt legally with it.... Have at it. Im not against any legal means including the new high powered air rifles...which is exactly what this is.

Bet if you had to use a hand pump to recharge the tanks you would change your mind real quick.

Anthony, I'll buy your unused 335 Nightmare, and I'll give you the same price you paid, plus a 42% bonus. Not a bad profit I would say.

As I recall, tickets at BooFest were $20 Cdn. so by adding the 42% that comes to $28.40 Cdn.

So if instead of air, the arrow gun used a standard primer and gunpowder in a custom cartridge to propel the arrow, would that change anyone's opinion of whether it was 'archery hunting'?

Where I hunt in Northern Virginia there is gun or muzzleloader deer season in from the first Saturday in September until the last Saturday in March except for four weeks of archery season during October. Where I currently hunt, archery season is tough and short because the deer are in 'gun deer season' mode. I find myself archery hunting during gun season just to get more time in the woods with my bows. If they allowed an arrow gun during archery season, they might as well scrap the short archery season altogether and go to a general deer season like with squirrels or rabbits where you can choose any legal weapon of choice. Of course many would opt for a regular gun, so the season wouldn't need to be as long as it is today.

Man, where do we all sign up for that?

Lou....I have decided to go public and announce that you are the "winner of the 335" that I won at Boofest! Congratulations!

One small detail however since you have brought it up more than once about me winning it, that I should have donated it back and now you have made a monetary offer for what I paid for it....I commend you for that!

....I must correct you, as your computations are slightly off....Please let me explain...I compute that I paid well over $1,000 in an effort to support the Makena fundraiser with ticket purchases for the numerous raffles and having as a small added benefit the chance to possibly win something...In all fairness so that it does not cost you more I have (for your benefit) not added in the cost of travel to Boofest, hotel room for 4 nights and food purchases while there.

....I will trust that your 42% CDN conversion is correct so the $1,000 US that I spent comes to $1420 CDN....So at your earliest convenience please PAYPAL this amount to me!

....and since you have graciously offered to buy the 335 I think we can kick off the 2016 Boofest fundraiser by me donating back $1000 CDN of the $1420 CDN which you will forward to me...

....as an added bonus to your offer Lou....I have placed a Boo Custom String on the Bow and will also throw in one of yours!

....Once the transfer is complete and you own the bow I think it would only be fair if you donate back your bow along with my $1000 and we would have a real great kick off to Boofest 2016!

Thanks again Lou for your generous consideration in purchasing the bow I paid nothing for!

if a guy can purchase one and go use it in a sporting and ethical way to take game then whats it to me?
I mean its not for me and I dont see it out selling crossbows or verticals but its another way to do it.
We should be careful about being closed minded on this kind of thing.
Remember ..it wasnt that long ago the same kind of things were said about xbows
as much as we all agreed to the lobbying and pushed to get xbows legal and its still an issue in some states i might add. then all of the sudden we gonna slam the same doors on a new innovation?
I say lighten up ...let em hunt..
It will do away with crossbows from what I hear locally...Game commission will hear from DISABLED is where this will start. They will say LET DISABLED USE IT IN ARCHERY SEASON.Then others will say thats not fair WHAT ABOUT MY YOUNG 4 YEAR OLD KIDS,dont laugh we have 4 year old kids here that got 10 point bucks with crossbow and all will be able to use airbow in archery..This is how the crossbow got start in pa and opened door ..By letting it in GUN SEASON will be door that opens it to archery season...

My thought is its no different than a crossbow. Climb a tree, load it, wait for a deer to get within 50 yards, requires minimal movement, and shoot. If it shot 600fps with a 500grain arrow I may think differently but there are crossbows on the market that can do what it does. You will need to calculate yardage just as you do with any bow or crossbow. I feel crossbow hunters saying no to this are in the same category as compound hunters who say no to crossbows in archery season. As for this wiping out crossbows why haven't crossbows wiped out compound bows or compound bows wiped out long bows?
