Is this all about "Joe"?
Joe is anyone who is a new member that doesn't show up just to blow sunshine up the arse of Excalibur.
What about all the rest of the posts, birthdays, prayer requests.. They should be sorted through accordingly as well.
It would be really nice to see the crossbow section just about crossbows, the rest moved to "off topics", like it was designed for.
There are just a handful of active members here these days, most come just to read about their bow, and the odd new guy who just comes to ask about a problem. I can relate to that, I often join a forum just for insight on an issue with a product, I don't give it much thought until something goes wrong, then I join and ask. I have never seen such a dump of accusations on a board as I do when someone shows up with an issue, as I do here. New guy has an issue, which can happen, if his post isn't about putting a crown on the bow, he is immediately accused of being "Joe", and never gets his answer.
How about cleaning up the forum, moving non crossbow stuff to the off topics, and keeping the rest clean?
Good to see there is off hours moderation, I just hope it affects everything that is wrong here these days besides just this Joe fellow.

David, have you read the Joe posts and threads? I completely disagree with you. It's because of the trolls that people are immediately suspicious of a new poster with complaints. It's not a love in. You've got legitimacy with the off topic stuff but this is how it's been in my short couple years here....and I'm personally not offended. Again, that's just me. I really do hope you're day gets better and a little more cheerful.

As Paul stated, the trolls (AKA Joe & Others) come here only to cause trouble, state facts which are not even close to 100% truth. Because these people change names all the times, I can understand why some people get defensive when new members come on this forum and get very defensive, aggressive in their complaints about something. Most times the new members post only to rant (try to cause trouble), not to solve a problem.

I have been on this forum for a very long time. I have even participated in the forum before it was switched to the "phpBB" format. I have never, ever, witnessed any person who has came to this site with a problem, with a request for help, be refused that help. Now members which come onto the forum ranting and raving and not really asking for help, only complaining, well I have seen them not really get anything solved (but what did they ask for).

As for your comparing "OT" threads to be the same as the rants from trolls is ridiculous.

BTW, the off topics forum was created to give an area for members to post "Off Topic" (topics which were tainted or offensive to others). This was to make sure that members did not have be exposed to "political, off humour, ect threads" in the regular most commonly viewed forum (crossbow Forum).

I personally do not go into the "off Topics" forum because I do not want to read Political views (everyone's is different), tainted humour, or threads like that. But I understand that some members do like that, so it is a good place for the site to let it post there. I know those threads are there, so I avoid it.

As long as the "OT" threads do not go to the dark side (offensive), I have no problem with them posting on the crossbow forum. If you do not like it, with the "OT" in the title, just avoid it (ignore it).

Not really, no. I have likely read them, absorbed what I needed and then moved on. I can't say that anything particular stands out to me with his threads. What does stand out is the bashing he takes, the multiple threads built around him (this one included), the tremendous amount of responses he gets. I just see it as someone else's opinion, which I happen to appreciate, whether or not I agree with them or not. I am kinda weird like that, never been one to "go with the flow", I like that I can see things from all angles. I don't know the guy, nor care to, but he sure brought a lot of people to the surface to show what they are made of, me included.
Day is good Mr. Real good actually, please don't confuse my candidness with having a bad day, quite possibly the happiest guy you will run in to. My typing is dry, I get that, but still living the good life!

No worries Tom, I don't type for approval, I type to express how I feel.
Again, sometimes people do not join a forum because they are ecstatic with their purchase, the join when they have an issue. For example, after 4 years with my FoxPro I ended up with an issue, so I joined the forum to state my concern, so my first post may have been abrasive to the die hards, but it was still legitimate. There were some who thought I was there just to knock the company (you must work for the competition, you are so and so who got banned before..) Fact of the matter was, I loved the product, but had a concern. Still a fan, but the BS that came in between my answers was enough to make me not go back, as I am sure is the case here, a lot.
