Anyone else getting pumped?

Post by chris4570 »

My sister ( a postie) brought home an issue of Outdoor Canada (person moved) for me. Had a good article on elusive bucks and many pictures that got me in the mood.

Geese are flying over my house, many within range :) , honking as they go.

Practiced with my Exocet in the backyard today. Twenty yards is still a shoe in.

Finished making my marsh stool. Fixing up my home-made canoe. First comes the early goose season. Then opening day waterfowl at Tiny Marsh. And then, yee haw!, deer. Time to go and learn every inch of my new hunting area.

So how are you guys? Starting, if you haven't already  , to get that fall drive in your blood?

Heading out to our property this coming weekend, with wife and kids. Hopefully we'll spot some good bucks feeding in the alfalfa fields.

I'm very pumped, first I'll start with ruffled grouse, maybe a quick Wild Boar hunt, then head first into WHITETAIL DEER. I was thinking about Elk, but it'll take to much time away from deer.

Should of explained myself better. Elk are a great animal to hunt. Although I got two elk last year, they were meat animals. Out of about 25-30 elk we spotted, they were all cows and calfs. Elk are not a guaranteed animal. They do make better table fare than whitetails. It takes time from my holidays to go and scout these brutes, but honestly hunting Whitetail deer on my very own property is much more rewarding.

I may go with a buddy of mine hunting for the almighty moose.

Happy hunting GaryL.

This year is hopefully going to be a special year for me as I have never shot a deer with a crossbow. I recently bought an Exocet and have been practicing daily from 20-40 yards. With the additional tags available in some areas where my friends have big farms and lots of deer on them I am absolutely dying for Oct. 1st to roll around.

I leave Sept 16 for our fly-in moose hunt. We fly-in the 17th, start hunting the 18th. We have a cow tag and a bull tag. Man am I pumped. Been practicing my moose calling around the house, annoying the crap out of everybody.

For deer hunting I have an anterless tag in 67 and an additional tag for 69a (archery only). Plan to pick up a second archery only tag for 69a3 on Wednesday. Start trying to fill them on Oct. 1.

I leave the 6th of Sept. for Kentucky for a week of hunting with my bow and about 15 other guys from Hunting forums.com this will be our 2nd annual hunt. Looking forward to meeting some new friends.

We should think about have a forum hunt for Excalibur hunters. If anyone has a good location that would handle a group with either inexpensive hotels or camp sites near by I would entertane the proposal.

When you whack them you better stack them!!!
