3 inch instead of 2 inch vanes with the matrix

Post by hunter with MS »

I have 20 inch gold tip laser 2 with nap quikfletch quikspin 3 inch crossbow vanes . I can cut them to 18. My question is the arrows that come with the matrix are 2 inch vanes will the extra inch hurt the performance of the arrow ?

No. It won't hurt anything.

There is a guy on Youtube that shoots over 300yards with his M380 and M405 and he uses 20" arrows w/ 3" vanes in order to increase his downrange accuracy...just food for thought...and Excalibur's "Firebolt" arrows that are intended for broadhead use are 20" and have 4" vanes.

Might be kinda fun to put a camera downrange and see how much more sound you get with the bigger vanes. ???

I've used 3in Duravanes for over two years now in all my bows. The just seem to fly truer and stabilize the arrow better. Shoot what works best for "you". Confidence in your equipment is a major part of the game.

I will be looking to shoot the bolts that just came with my new matrix 350 and compare them to how the 20 inch bolts with 3 inch vanes that I just upgraded on my Phoenix,..I'm interested to see which ones fly better out of the new 350...

I took 4 Gold tip laser II arrows with 3 inch quikfletch quikspin vanes and cut them down to 18 inch as I have all the equipment here to do it right . Will see how they work out of the matrix .
