String cocker

Post by Cnc »

I have which maybe a dumb question. I'm still pretty new to crossbows. I just got my new 380 today. My question is, is the rope cocker supposed to be short by about 4inches? I can pull the string up to hook it in but that doesn't seem right. I wonder if the one for the micro got packaged by mistake. Other than that I love it. Thanks

Yes, this is normal to have to pull up the string a bit to fit the cocker and the stock cocker is designed that way.
It shortens the overall cocking stroke to the string claws, some people (ie shorter folks) have a difficulty with a longer cocking effort and run out of steam before latching the string.

It's supposed to be short enough that you need to pull the string up a bit to hook the 2nd side on...not sure if it's supposed to be a full 4" shorter?

It also helps keep it on the bow when let down, or uncocked.

Thanks for the all the info. Still seems to be a little too much. But I can make it work. My old bow came with string too long and had to shorten it up. Still learning. Great forum.

I made one longer....and it made my 380 nearly impossible to get the last 1 1/2" The string just didn't want to come past the Guardian.....so now my short cocker is even shorter and it makes the 380 much nicer to cock.

Plus, being shortened one can just leave the cocker on the bow when not in use.
