would you all like to get a forum hunt together?

Post by mdcrossbow »

I have been hunting with a group from another forum and this year we have 23 of us getting together in KY for a bnow hunt.

What we need is a large enough track of land to di this. In Ky we have a large state park.

So if anyone has an idea for a place lets talk about it.

DH,
If we would plan something like a hunt it probably should be in a state or province that includes crossbows as "archery" equipment for all hunters. That narrows the possibilities :(
There's a large state forest near me, but it's rough terrain. I'm sure someone knows of a place open to the public, with lots of deer, generous bag limits, and nice flatland walking
How about the GA members?

DaveHawk, that would appeal to me, maybe even better than a 3D forum shoot. I can't say for sure that I'll be there for the first one, but I'll definetely keep an open eye and mind to the possibility.

As soon as I get our cabin bulit on our land, I would like to have some forum members share the experience of a hunt together. You fellows on here share the same interest's as me.

I hope your sucessful in getting something going, as I've always wanted to hunt in the U.S.A.

To all forum members, please give this a try, its a very good idea.

Good Luck DaveHawk, I'm watching this closely.

There is right at 20,000 acres of public hunting within 2 hours of my home in S.E. Kansas and its barely touched! I also have 1 sq. mi. of private land. There is also a ton of public land here in N.E. OK. Either of these would be suitable for a group hunt But I also have access to enough private land in Ok to serve at least a dozen or so but both OK. and KA. require a disability to hunt with a xbow but possibly a muzzleloader or gun hunt could be arranged. Kansas tags are draw out only. Not just a hunt for deer but maybe for dove or coyotes. I would be willing to gather up for almost anything that gave me an excuse to tell hunting stories and eat with friends. just a suggestion....

Just had an after thought....How about a shed hunt in late march or april. Very cost efficient--just get there! And to find giant Kansas sheds are totally cool and somtimes worth a ton of cash, plus if you find both sides you can still get a great head mount without all that boreing hunting  ha ha ha...

Gray Owl; the hunt would most likely have to be pulled off up north, sence that's where most of the hunters from here are located. Here in Maryland it's open to the Crossbow and very liberial limits. But it's 10 hours from Canada. I will travil that time on Monday to Ky for a hunt. I will make the travel if some one could come up with a good central location.
. We have a great time at our 1st hunt. Local police cheff even stopped by because he heard a bunch of guys were pulling off a hunt and came by for a chat. Good camp fire stories and the entencity of hearing about a big buck someone is onto.
. I see it sort of like a Modern day Rondavoo. And I don't have to dawn all that 1700's garb. LOL

You're right DaveHawk, it'll likely have to be in some other state or province. Unfortunately here in my province, only resident or Canadain hunters can hunt on my property, just happens to be the zone I live in. Americans can go up north in the forest zones, but with an Outfitter only, very costly.

I believe in Ontario there're a little more wide open or some states in the U.S. Here in Saskatchewan were still a Socialist Government.
