How many use a sling?

Post by tcthomas »

I was thinking of ordering a sling from bj, to see if it would have any advantages for when I am out hunting. I thought I would ask some of you that may have experience with one on your excalibur. I am asking this from a hunter's perspective, not a target shooter.

Thanks,

Tim

I use a sling on my crossbow, but only to carry it. Even for 3D I don't use it for shooting. Even though a sling can help in stabilizing and holding, I suppose it's what one gets use to. For me, I find that I can shoot just as well if not better without using the sling.

I hope the 'knapsack straps' on the excalibur case feel ok (never used my bow yet), otherwise may need another sling though for thick brush.. Any thoughts?

Same as a rifle wrap the sling around your arm for an anchor point this will stabilize your crossbow. I use mine this way for both hunting and 3D. When you get it right for you it can make a big difference in stability.

I use a sling but before I had one i would carry it unloaded over my back.
To do this put the bow with the tips of the limbs on each shoulder. Pick a limb and grab it with your hand and put that limb around your cheek or wherever comfortable. You rest the string on your shoulder.
