i dont burn firewood myself but enjoy being out in the woods cutting it so every year i cut some and stock my brother up with wood for the winter as he always helps me and will not take money. he also drives his truck every year moose hunting so hes a big help. also supply a buddy who does my taxidermy work with a little. im just getting too wore out for all the bending and splitting so put this together for about $700 total. wife will run this while i run the saw. she enjoys being out as well and the 2 of us cut 100 cord the winter she was due to have aaron

thanks robin thats the first piece she cut so a little rough but we did a cord in about 20 min and she was getting good, i debated where to mount the cylinder for the hoist table. did you notice it jump when she extended it. bit of a pain but the way i did it if you pop the latch on the hitch you push the table down and will lift the spliter of the ball. then drop the leg and let it back down.its a bitch getting old but why make it any gharder that you have too. already have plans for a second more compact

The motor is 13 hp that just needs to idle to work I bought it for a hundred bucks because it started hard . Fixed it in 10min the butterfly was broke in the choke. A detent valve was on sale this week for $120 plus tax . I needed 2 . I bought this double for$50 . Cycle time is not that important the wife goes with me most days and I cut with a 66cc saw so there's know way 2 guys could keep up splitting . If I go myself I will split the piece once then both pieces the second time . If in the future if I find a cheap double detent I may buy one . I have another idea as wèll as some other parts and may build another for smaller wood that splits on the return as well

I'll have my little 4 foot square trailer to haul the wood out but have material to build a tandem 4x6 that will hold a cord when I'm done . The bike is an 800 so should pull it . Same trailer we use to haul moose out with

The valve on my splitter is a CROSS brand. They sold a kit to make it either detent in one direction or both directions. I find that return is the only direction I would want in detent!

Pretty cool Terry. Some of my favourite smells are fresh sawdust, crisp cool spring air in the bush and chainsaw fumes.
