The last couple of days chasing Turkeys .

Post by Doe Master »

The first two days were interesting . The brand new novice hunter was getting all the opportunities . My sister-in-law jumped in with both feet this season . The past winter/spring she went for her hunting, firearms and turkey courses . She also purchased a new outfit plus a new 20 gauge shotgun .
We informed her anything she gets right now is very expensive .
Here is a picture of the loving couple sharing a tree in the swamp . Romantic eh !!!!

This mornings sunrise . Looks nice but I had a gobbler who was yodelling to it but did not want to play with me . :?

So we all met at the vehicle to hatch a new plan . I decided to take my blind into a spot with very little large trees for cover . Dad sat in the pine reforestation and Scott minus his wife sat on the side of a small ridge . With the wind gusting off and on I threw out some seductive calls during lags in the wind . I was getting some distant responses . Then all of a sudden I got one a lot closer and behind me . I looked out the screen window and could see him doing the turkey trot in . :) That is about the time he threw on the brakes and proceeded to do his best dance for the hidden lady . He strutted and drummed not moving an inch . Finally with some clucks and purrs he couldn`t take it anymore .
I sent an angry swarm of 4`s his way .

Yes, Paul the family hunting is fun . :)
The pressure is off for me now . I will carry but will let others have their choice of locations .
Maybe sit and video .
The measurements are 1.25 spurs , 10 inch beard and 22 pounds . He is now chilling in the freezer .

Congrats on an awesome tom Kevin! :D ....I've never hunted turkeys so please forgive what may be a ridiculous question, but, why aren't you shooting them with your crossbow?
