Turkey shot placement?

Post by bowmajik »

Hi all I'm just wondering where you all try and put the bolt when you have a gobbler in your cross hairs? I aim for a broadside shot and try and keep the arrow in a spot where it will go through both wings and hit vitals aswell as take out it's legs. I'm just curious if this is bad form and how many people try and go for a head or base of neck shot? Never dropped the hammer on a big ol' Tom yet because of poor shot angke or distance (with my bow) . Thanks in advance for the replies ladies and gents

don't know how you are hunting . if you use decoys set them close ,I mean 10yds. or less and get you some Magnus Bull Heads you will kill him or miss on foolen around they are only good for head shots . I use a blind so it is no problem for me. I put the blind out in the field and have no problem getting close to birds. they don't mind the blind at all. good luck

I've seen too many body shot birds not get recovered so I aim for the neck area no matter what I shoot and for me so far it's been a dead bird or a missed bird. I also like then in close but don't use a blind much more fun knowing I have to be careful or get busted.
