Anyone recognize these broadheads? (Part two)

Post by Sandman »

While cleaning up dad's hunting gear I found these broadheads and was wondering if anyone knows what they are and their intended use?

Robin,

they look like vintage Bear razorheads or something similar...

Woody will know FOR SURE what they are.

Those heads look to me as if they are the old Ben Pearson broadheads.

They were Pearson's version of the Bear Razorhead.

Made of very soft steel, easy to sharpen but did not hold an edge well.

I think mtbyak be right, I used bear and the center insert fit a little different, steel was strong and hard to sharpen. Once sharp they held a edge well.
Always learning!!

Ben Pearson Switchblade is correct. I have a couple dozen in my tackle box. Reasonably good broadhead. I think they went out of production in the late 70's -early 80's

Those are 150 gr. Swickeys!!!!!!!!
The tapered glue-in inserts are 40gr.
Total weight, 190 gr.
Used predominatley with recurve bows. And very common!

Forgot too login this is Johnbuck 9 and the guys are right they are Ben Pearsons, I have hunted with them back in the 60/s and early 70/s with recurves,I still have sum they do take after the bear, and are not swickey,
bear slide thru the ferrul, and the bleeder blades lock in little indents,
but not knocking zwickeys , I hunted with them for about 30 years, great broadhead, for any game animal.
Have a great season!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D :D :D
