Swept back riser to slow down speed?

Post by bigrak »

I saw this statement in the trading post.
I thought what made the Matrix line change the speed was in the length of the rail.
Are the Matrix risers different too?
Thanks.

If I am right the Sapphire, Grizzly, Cub and Matrix 310 use a swept back riser and are about 20 fps slower.

The Matrix 310 riser is flat, not swept back, (at least the one I acquired is...but mine is not OEM, it's a Dr. Miller nose job :D ). The standard Matrix riser is a forward riser. The Bulldog 400 has a swept back riser.

So if you put a forward riser on the Bulldog it would be faster by 20' ?

Are these hypothetical questions or are you fixing to tinker?

A BD400 mainframe modified to accept a standard Matrix forward riser would probably get better than 20fps just because there's a significant enough angle difference between the swept and forward risers. There is enough difference between them that I would say this mod is pushing the envelope. When Excalibur decides to join the 410+ class it won't be like this.

A Bulldog modified with a Matrix forward riser would probably get better than 420fps BUT it would have some seriously stacked and cracked limbs  It would draw north of 300#. It's definitely not advisable but I'll hold your beer while you take the first shot!

I think the bulldog use a different riser than the other matrix more like a micro riser with one screw but I am not 100% sure
