New Ibex Owner
Hello, just an intro and request for tips.
I just bought an Ibex and have been shooting it this week, this bow is awesome!
I've been shooting and hunting with longbows and recurves with wood arrows for the last 20 years, but some shoulder injury has put an end to that.
A buddy has been hunting with a wheeled crossbow and said I should try one.
I wanted an Excalibur because it's not a wheelie bow, I really like the simplicity just like my recurves.
I am new to carbon shafts and mechanical points, my buddy suggested to get Rages, due to his and sons' success with them. The practice point flies to the same spot as my field tips.
Here in Wyoming you can hunt with a crossbow just like regular bows, so I'm pretty stoked for this season, archery antelope for my hunt area opens tomorrow, I plan to be out this weekend, and practicing my shooting everyday.
I've been reading the forum, lots of great posts and I'm glad to have joined up.
So if you have any pointers I'm all ears(er, eyes in this case).
I do like to small game hunt, so if you have pointers for tips and carbon shafts, and not destroying arrows with every shot that would help as well.
Thanks, for having an Excalibur specific forum and I'll keep reading.

Welcome to the forum!!
Remember to keep your fingers below the rail!
The Ibex is a great bow...it was my first Excalibur.
I shoot spitfires out of my bows, they have never let me down.

Congrats on a fine Excalibur! Lear the ins & outs aboutthe bow, brace height, and the few things required to maintain her, and you'll be a happy man for years to come.
Good luck!

Re: New Ibex Owner
Thanks for the welcomes, and good hunting on the mulies. I'll be hunting mulies and whitetails around the Black Hills.
I do need a stringer.

Re: New Ibex Owner
.... I too welcome you aboard! You picked a fine family of crossbows... Follow the forum and you will learn in a very short time... I too shoot the SpitfireXXX which have been awesome out of the 335 and 380... Will be giving the FOCs a try out of my BD400 this year because of all the respected recommendations on this forum ... You have to use what works best out of your bow...
..... As previously mentioned pick up a stringer and an extra string, watch your brace height and you should be good to go.... Report back with how you do!

Re: New Ibex Owner
....many members shoot the Black Eagle Archery Executioners or the firmer spined Zombie Slayers as their carbon arrows of choice.... You could also contact Jerry at South Shore Archery and have some of his Spynnal Tap Arrows made up to your choosing....
.... Also consider picking up a Flemish string from one of our fine craftsmen on this forum such as Boo (Don), NChunterkw (Keith) or Vixenmaster (Mike). All fine strings and equally fine gentlemen to deal with.

Re: New Ibex Owner
Congrats!! I also have an ibex and love it! I bought gold tip laser 2 arrows early on and couldn't get them to fly consistently, even refletched them with 2" blazers and a helical, still inconsistent. Bought some black eagle zombie slayers, 85 grain inserts, 2" Blazers, and was taught how to build them properly using a ez-fletch bolt jig by a good guy on this forum (thank u Don). It really is amazing how much flatter and more consistent my bow shoots with this setup. Hope this helps and good luck to you!
