DeadZone scope rings

Post by RobD »

Quick quesiton to the group. I just acquired a Cub for the kids to use and it came with a DeadZone mounted to it. It seems to be sitting a little low on the ADF, and wondering what size rings would be more appropriate for this scope? The scope cap doesn't even fit in the gap, so I don't think they are the factory rings that would have normally come with the scope.

Thanks for your help!

Well, it's sitting on top of the Guardian ADF, so whatever rings are normally included should fit. These rings make it sit real low (I just fixed the pics).

Maybe the rings just need to go forward a notch or two. Looking at the pics of the Grizzly with a Dead Zone, it appears the rings go on the 4th from the rear gap where on this Cub the previous owner had them on the 2nd from the rear gap. That would get the front of scope further forward and the scope caps would fit.

On that short scope moving it forward might throw your eye relief way off as there is not a lot of room to maneuver inside the rings. Try it and see but I think you are probably going to need higher rings looking at the pictures.

I just went and grabbed a spare scope mount out of a drawer and mounted a Dead Zone with Excal factory rings to it and it did not matter where I placed it the front of the scope did not touch the mount. It had about 1/16" clearance. The eye section was clear and not near touching also. I am pretty certain that the Excal factory rings that came with the scope are low ones.

I mounted the scope just like it is pictured on a Grizzly, and I'm happy with it. The scope caps now fit, and the eye relief is just right. Now it is stretching out the the new string from vixenmaster so I can get it sighted in and ready for poker season.
