I've read on here where Peter from Excalibur says 2" from the rail/riser connection will give you the fastest speed from the Bulldog..

You definitely want enough brace height to where the string is not sitting or pushing into the REDS... Most I believe prefer about an 1/8" - 1/4" off the bumpers..

Peter is correct. I've tested above, at and below.

late 90s Excalibur exocet 165 . 20" Gold tip laser IIs, 4" vanes, brass inserts, aluminum nocks, 125gr muzzy three blade . I have been wanting to go to 100gr broad heads but the cost and the fact these shoot very well have kept me from doing it .

I have a grizzly cub, shooting the stock arrows it comes with and a 150 wensel woodsman, shot a deer the other day, first with the crossbow and at 30 yards, complete pass through and left the broadhead in the tree, took the arrow. I also use 2219 cut to 17 in with alum flat nock and a woodsman 150 gr head, total weight is roughly 450 gr and hits to the same poi as the carbons that weigh 350gr. Sighted in the stock three dot the bow comes with and it will hit a dime at 50 yards, love the three dot too, very fast shooting scope.

How are you getting 628 with 2216's. I'm using 2219 @ 20inches and only get 503 with 150gr points??

How do they fly @ long range?

Well, I went on a bit of quest for another forum brother and decided to evaluate the "APE" crossbow rig. This system allows you to change any vane in the field with exact results. I did not need this system, but tried it none the less. It increases your overall weight, and rear weight to be specific. End of the trial I wound up at around 9% FOC, and total weight at 524 Grains. I like the setup enough to continue the trial through the summer with both Matrix Models, and hunt as well with them, God willing. I recommend this setup for the folks that want an easy to build arrow without special tools, they hit very hard i might add.
