Custom Arrow Question
I just got these arrows yesterday and haven't shot them yet but was wondering if it hurts anything if part of the vane is glued to the shaft logo.

Yes! They will come loose.

Re: Custom Arrow Question
It won't hurt anything. The best adhesion is to a bare shaft, second best is to a film like paint or what you have and last is to a wrap. What you have is just like a crested arrow.

Re: Custom Arrow Question
I disagree respectfully. A crested, or wrapped arrow is probably the strongest bond you could get if the crest is done correctly. The downside is that you cannot replace one vane, you have to strip the wrap off to re-fletch the arrow. I have done hundreds of these!

Re: Custom Arrow Question
Is it just an optical illusion or is that red vane slightly ahead of the white one?

Re: Custom Arrow Question
Most jigs I have worked with line up the back end of the vane. I have found from several suppliers a length variation in varying colors. This difference is usually less than one 1/32" but non the less present. I have done many studies with this variation present to find very little impact in accuracy. Although the look may seem alarming, it has less impact than a poorly squared arrow, or rear ends being evenly aligned. No arrow maker can correct the variations in vane length provided by the supplier, and his is one of the reasons we all pick our main choice when it comes to vanes.

Sorry, but, while you might disagree, you're wrong.xcaliber wrote:I disagree respectfully. A crested, or wrapped arrow is probably the strongest bond you could get if the crest is done correctly. Re: Custom Arrow Question
I'm pretty sure not.You would have to do the prep that even you advise, and that would render the graphics crap. I'll stick with my statement, and would not ever consider that acceptable.

Re: Custom Arrow Question
Folks, in preparation it is advised to remove all human finger prints, etc. with acetone. This chemical is also advised to remove the graphics rather easily. Some have said that this is accomplished with minimal effort, so how could you clean the surface with acetone to prep the area of adhesion without removing the graphics?

Re: Custom Arrow Question
If you're dealing with a creasted arrow or that decal, you can use alcohol with a low water content. While it does not clean as well as acetone, it works well enough.

Re: Custom Arrow Question
This guy gets pretty good adhesion using alcohol, of course with the exception of wraps.
