Micro string

Post by canoe13 »

Hey, is it just me or is it much harder to get a bow string installed on a Micro. I'm having a very hard time getting my stringer tight enough to draw the limbs back far enough to put my twisted up string on properly. I'm using a black Excal stringer, maybe my cord is too stretchy. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I put two knots in mine when I had it, once I got it over the tips, I went to the second knot to cock it.

Put the stringer on and then take up the slack through the plastic ends.

I am doing all that has been suggested. Never had a problem before when changing strings. Any recommendations for a no stretch cord out there?

As pros said here your string is slipping in the holders ...put your holders on with the pointed side facing forward THEN turn it too cocking side..this allows a tighter string.make sure after that string is doubled tied in holders so it does not slip....

I had the same problem and replaced the string with a vinyl coated steel cable from Lowe's(very cheap). I just bought the size that fit the holes in the stringer. It's pretty stiff, and the vinyl will start to tear if you have to mess with it very much, but once I got the length adjusted it worked great.

I found my 335 wasn't a problem. The 355 on the other hand required knots tied in the tag end so that you could have the stringer as short as possible and it couldn't slide because the knots wouldn't let the slack back through.

In fact on a new string I had to put the stringer on one side and then put a little pressure on the limb to get the stringer on the other side. Then it always worked great.

That's what the second knot is for. I get it over the tips, then go to the second position.

The problem has been solved by taking doehunter's advice. Went to the hardware store and got a few feet of 1/8 " coated cable. Replaced the rope in the stringer, drew it up snug on the bow with no stretching or slippage and in no time had my string adjusted perfectly. Thanks doehunter for the advice.
