Micro 355

Post by Mntnere »

16.5 quill spec at 9.9 gpi, this weight plus the 150 broad head doesn't add up to the 350 minimum bolt weight as suggested, I call Excalibur and also asked about shooting 18" from this bow and was told it would be ok and if I wanted I could shoot 100 gr broadhead from either , now this puts the 16.5 way below min weights. ??? Can anybody explain this to me????

Dont forget to add inserts vanes and nock in.
all excalibur arrows... be it quills diablos or firebolts weigh 250ish grains without a head. The added heavier inserst in the shorter arrows to make up the weight difference.

Kind of a moot point. If you want to chrono your bow to see what speed you're getting shoot the stock setup with a 100gr arrow to get 350 grains....or a slightly heavier point with a 16.5" quill. If you want proper accuracy and more hitting power stick with the 150gr points with the stock arrows. Excalibur doesn't recommend 350 grain arrows, that's the minimum arrow weight they suggest you can shoot safely. Another option is after market arrows with heavier brass inserts that will allow you to shoot lighter broadheads or points and maintain sufficient FOC.

Buy some 20" black eagle executioner 110gr insert arrows. I like a heavier arrow.

IMHO, 20" arrow in any Micro would be ridiculously long and stick out a good 3-4" past your stirrup - depending on mainframe length. It would work, but why go that long? If you want weight, use heavy brass inserts and 150gn or 170gn broadheads.

My Micro recipe for a 335 or 355 would be: 170gn BH, 26gn insert, 15.75" BEAZ, 2" blazers and a lumenock. I get 395gn finished weight and bottle cap sized groups at 50y.

With that said... I did extensive testing with a 355 and 335 micros with both style risers. And my absolute opinion for what it is worth, is that the Micro 355 NEEDS 375 gn arrows as a minimum. There is a reason that the package comes at 400gn.
