I have on that is a cheaper model. I use it for the same purpose. It will cut raw meat with ease ONLY if it is frozen. If you try doing raw thawed meat you end up with a bigger mess than you could ever imagine.

The meat slicers (circular blade) work fine if the meat is well chilled. I have a good friend who runs a deer processing business during season, and he lets deer hang in his cooler until they are chilled to about 35 deg. F.
Warm meat will stick to the blade and is a real mess to work with!

I have a hand crank model that I purchased for $15 at a yard sale. It works great for making jerky. I usually bone out large hunks for jerky and place them in the freezer. When it's time to make jerky, I partially thaw the meat and then slice it into 1/4" slabs. I am getting hungry just thinking about it!
