Early goose season

Post by R.J. »

Been doing our part to thin the flock since the 7th ...... had a few good morning shoots ..... My springer Sally is 10 years old this year but she still hustles the long necks !!

This is a picture of her from a set up we had this a.m.

The early season closes this Friday ..... only 14 days to go till the archery opener here in Ontario !

Good luck all ........

R.J. how you doing? Haven't heard from you in a while. Looks like you were successful. Did you go it alone? You likely went with your buddy Mike, another guy that been busy. Keep the pictures coming RJ.

Grey Owl : Been out with a few different friends since the early opener . Mikey V. was along for a couple shoots . Had good weather , lots of fun .... just nice to get out !!

Been busy getting my gear in order .... got my extra deer tag in the mail yesterday , picked up my pheasant licence a few weeks back .... lot's of things to prepare..... I've got lot's of vacation booked in Oct , Nov .... just counting the days before the safari begins !!

It's been hard to juggle work , home , scouting , and outdoor play lately ..... it is defineatley the busiest time of year for me !!

Ricky - thanks to you guys for a really fun morning out.

If it weren't for you that goose pile would have been considerably smaller though.

R.J. - Ribs are coming along pretty good. Spoke to the bodyshop about my car they have not finished their estimate yet but so far they are up to $17,000.00 in damages. Got some bad news though....I have been put on the injured reserve list for the moose hunt (I'll send ysa a PM).

I will have to make up for it during the deer hunt!

DR : Yep , that is one of those pop up chairs .... they work good since you can get right out with the decoys in the middle of a field ......

DH : This set up was small .... 24 standard shells with 6 magnum shells and 2 magnum shells on the seats ..... this field was scouted the evening before , so we were sure it was active .... it had been just tilled over and the geese had been picking at seeds and grit .
